Vietjet signs $ 4.7 billion deals with CFM International, USA

On May 31 in Washington DC, in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc and US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur L. Ross, Jr., Vietjet Aviation JSC and CFM International, a joint venture between GE and Safran, has signed a contract to provide 215 aircraft engines with technical service and maintenance. This contract was worth $ 3.6 billion and was implemented within 12 years.

 

Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, General Director of Vietjet, said: “We aim to use fuel-efficient, eco-friendly aircraft and engines. The engine we choose under this contract saves up to 15% of fuel consumption, along with comprehensive maintenance, technical support and training services. VietJet is very pleased to cooperate with GE and CFM International. With this cooperation, the VietJet aircraft fleet will make breakthroughs in next-generation technology, improve flight quality and increase operational reliability while reducing operating costs. We hope this activity contributes to the development of trade between the two countries, creating more jobs for all people. “

On this occasion, Vietjet and GECAS of GE Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding to finance the purchase of aircraft worth $ 1 billion for 10 aircraft ordered by VietJet from manufacturers.
In addition, Vietjet has signed a contract with Honeywell Aviation Corporation for the supply and maintenance of auxiliary engine (APU) for 98 aircraft worth $ 180 million. This agreement will help Vietjet fleet maintained by the world standards.
